Spread the joy through fairy lights

ECHUCA’S Prue Galea wants to bring joy to the community at a time when many people are struggling.

While out walking her dog last week, she thought it would be great to see the Goulburn Valley decorated in fairy lights.

Prue said she hoped the twin towns community could get behind the idea.

“I thought it was something pretty much everyone can do,” she said.

“It’s a great way for us all to show support for the people who are doing it tough and those who are continuing to work through this pandemic.

“I don’t want people to feel pressured to do it. The idea is to keep it low key.

“We’re all feeling a bit low at the moment because it is a challenging time and it would be great if we can spread some joy.”

Prue has already started spreading the joy herself, putting fairy lights outside her own home as well as outside the aged care home where she works part time.

“I found mine in the cupboard and thought I may as well put them out,” she said.

“I’m hoping the councils might jump on board as well and put some decorations out around town as well.

“The more there are, the better.”
