A STOLEN car was dumped in Gunbower and set alight early Wednesday.

Emergency services were called to a car fire after initial reports of a collision into a channel on the Murray Valley Hwy, near Fox Island Rd, at 5.50am.

Leitchville and Gunbower CFA spent 10 minutes extinguishing the fire which destroyed the blue early 2000 Holden Astra.

Senior Constable Mike Niven of Swan Hill criminal investigation unit said the vehicle was stolen after a burglary in the Swan Hill area overnight Tuesday.

“We believe multiple people were involved,” he said.

“The car ended up being burnt out in Gunbower.”

He appealed to anyone who saw the car or the fire or had information to come forward.
