Echuca police are investigating an assault following a theft from an Echuca hardware store earlier last month.
Investigators have been told an unknown man attended a hardware store on Ogilvie Avenue just after 11.40am on Thursday, September 13.
While in the store the man took a digital lock and placed it under his jumper before walking out of the store without paying for it.
A team member confronted the man outside the store when the man has become aggressive and attempted to punch him.
The man then threw the lock at the team member which has hit him in the head.
He has run from the store along Ogilvie Avenue.
The man is perceived to be of Caucasian appearance, 177cm tall, medium build, in his mid-30s with dark hair.
The man was wearing a blue t-shirt, brown jacket and dark-coloured pants.
Police have released a images of a man who they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.
