Driver tested positive for drugs after early morning crash

February 27, 2018

UPDATE 10.30AM: Police are appealing for witnesses to the single vehicle crash at approximately 6am today.

A 19-year-old Gannawarra male drove east along Ogilvie Ave, Echuca and has entered the Ogilvie Ave and High Street intersection and collided with the traffic light in the centre median strip.

The driver sustained no injuries and was the only person in the vehicle.

No other vehicles were involved. Police were on the scene quickly.

The driver tested positive to a road side drug test and police will now await the evidentiary drug test outcome.

The damage to the traffic light is causing traffic congestion at the intersection and motorists are urged to consider using alternate routes until the damage is fixed later today.

Any witnesses to the incident are urged to contact the Echuca Police Station on 5483 1500.

EARLIER: POLICE are directing traffic at the intersection of High St and Ogilvie Ave near KFC after a vehicle collided with traffic lights this morning.

Delays are expected to continue throughout the day.
