MURRAY River Council is calling for nominations for the 2018 Australia Day awards.
Following the amalgamation of Murray and Wakool shires, council considered both processes for the national celebration, at the council meeting recently.
Murray Shire was run by council while Wakool was run by the community.
Council decided to continue with the same but offer the Wakool event a cash contribution.
Nominations are sought in the following categories: 2017 citizen of the year; young person of the year; sportsperson of the year; community event of the year; community group of the year; arts/culture award.
Nomination forms are available from council’s website, www.murrayriver.nsw.gov.au, or can be collected from any of council’s customer service centres.
They close 4pm on Thursday, November 30.
